ENCOURAGED WITH the open support of a faculty sitting on indefinite relay hunger strike on IIT-K premises, members of the FIR (Forum of Indians against Reservation)on Saturday reiterated that faculty support to them was continuing.

Though on day 14 of the relay hunger strike, no faculty member sat on hunger strike, but soon scores of faculty members are going to come up openly in support of the students in their stir against the quota hike. Members of FIR and faculty of IIT-K are going to organise a joint press conference on IIT-K on Sunday.

Members of the FIR who had been visiting different parts of the city garnering support in their favour, declared on Saturday that their first round of public contact was over. Chandrashekhar, a member of the FIR, said, “In the first round of mobilising public support, we have got overwhelming response from various organisations and coaching institutes in the city. All in all we have got a thumping victory in the form that we have succeeded in bringing them together on one platform.”

Now members of the FIR are finalising when to start a mass protest against the government proposed quota hike.
