Fake passport racket busted in Chennai
The city police on Wednesday busted a fake passport racket, with the arrest of the owner of a travel agency in Chennai, Police Commissioner Lethika Saran said on Wednesday.
In a statement in Chennai, she said as many as 402 invalid passports and 78 valid passports were seized from the person, Gurusamy alias Raju, who was running the racket in the heart of the city.
A special team,set up to eradicate the circulation of fake passports in the city, found that Raju had collected money and sent holders of these fake passports abroad, she added.
Raju was already involved in a similar case registered by the CBI and was convicted in the year 1993, she said.
