Mohammed Aslam lodged a complaint into the death of his son Asif, 18. As per his complaint, former Masuri police station-officer PK Singh had arrived with some policemen on Friday and shot his son.
Speaking to police officials, he said: "You had the option to fire tear-gas shells and rubber bullets before opening fire with .303 and .32 caliber weapons over the crowd."
Family of another deceased, Waseem, also lodged their complaint. They claimed that some policemen beat Waseem up, bundled him inside a police vehicle and took him away on Friday night. "Later, we were told that he was dead," the complaint stated.Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Prashant Kumar has ordered Masuri police station officials to file an FIR as per the forwarded complaints.
"The matter will be investigated," he said.Apprehending police action, some local residents reportedly have left the area.
"We are moving out of the area as we do not want police to harass us. Some people told us that police may pick our children for inquiries. We don’t want to be harassed," said a local resident without disclosing his name.SSP Kumar, however, denied that people are fleeing the area apprehending police action.
