Family of four commit suicide in Erode

Shocked by their elder daughter committing suicide over the choice of a bridegroom, her parents allegedly administered poison to their younger daughter before ending their lives in a similar manner in Erode. The parents noticed the body of their 23 year old daughter hanging from the ceiling fan in a room in their house on Sunday morning. They then decided to commit suicide and first gave the poison to their 20 year old daughter before consuming it themselves. All three died on the spot, police said on Monday.

They were survived by their 16 year old son who had left home to meet his friends and rushed back after he was informed of the deaths by neighbours, police said. The neighbours, who noticed the bodies, informed police, who rushed to the spot and began investigations.
