In a shocking incident, a father of six girls was arrested on Monday following a complaint by one of his daughters who alleged he had been raping her for the past six years.
The 14-year-old, the second daughter of the man, filed a complaint on Sunday evening with the help of her friend’s mother. She had sought refuge in her friend’s house. Both are residents of Surajkund area in Faridabad district.
A local police officer said: “We immediately swung into action and lodged a case of rape against the accused and arrested him on Monday. He has been remanded in judicial custody.”
The accused, a factory worker in his 50s, has been living in the Surajkund area for the past 15 years with his wife and six daughters. The police said the eldest daughter of the accused does not live with the family anymore.
A test on the victim confirmed rape. “Since the victim is a juvenile, we are in the process of rehabilitating her. We have also started counselling her,” the officer added. The mother of the girl is a housewife.
