Feng Shui for print media
Whether the project makes profits or not depends on the placement of the logo, says our Feng Shui Master Mohan Deep.
Mumbai has been flooded with the hoardings of DNA. "Speak Up", runs the legend. It all began with a mysterious looking campaign that had several people with their mouths shut, taped with a strip of newsprint. After a while, the strip was removed and provocative lines raising curiosity, offence and even irritation were added to the faces.
Lines like I want to meet Shakti Kapoor or Why is BMC digging the roads? For fun? Gold? Soon followed with Create your own newspaper…Daily News and Analysis. I do not know who the newspaper belongs to and do not care one way or the other. But I can make one forecast: Like the successful campaign, the newspaper (perhaps a newspaper on the 'net) will be a success. And it is high time; someone challenged the monopoly of the Old Lady of Bori Bunder (that is the Times of India) in Mumbai!
My analysis of the ad campaign of the DN Analysis is, naturally, based on Feng Shui. I have several Feng Shui reasons. I will mention just one. The yellow in the hoarding indicates durability and the blue color (representing water) supports the element of the publishing business (wood). However, whether the project makes profits or not depends on the placement of the logo. I have yet to see it.
Four years back, in Feng Shui for the print media, I wrote, "The way the logo of Behram Contractor's Afternoon Despatch and Courier is designed, has me worried about the health of the newspaper and its editor. Twelve poison arrows, emanate from the title itself, and are dangerously aimed at the front page!" The evening paper has not fared well and of course, my friend Behram the editor of this paper, is no more. The toilet in the money sector of The Daily, another newspaper in Mumbai, killed it!
Before Chaaru Anand started publishing `Page 3 Tabloid` she consulted me for the Feng Shui of the office of the tabloid. While whatever I did there is confidential let me reveal a little tidbit about the placement of my ancient Phoenix. Here, it has brought Page3Tabloid in a major controversy with an article about the relationship between Amitabh Bachchan and Amar Singh. So angry was Amar Singh that he issued death threats to Chaaru and using his political muscle got the editor Rajiv Saxena arrested and kept behind bars for 12 days!
This, as people in news business know, is a good beginning. P3T has approached police and Supreme Court, got protection and in the end it is the tabloid that will gain. Chaaru is enjoying every glorious moment of this episode!
