Organised by Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT), the festival will showcase around 50 outstanding documentaries and reality films from across the world. There will also be several workshops and interactive sessions for filmmakers and participants.

The festival is being supported by Unesco, British Council, Max Mueller Bhavan and Prasar Bharati Corporation. It will conclude on Sep 15.

"We will start it with a workshop on How To Critically Read a Film. There are numerous opportunities for dialogue and discussion with filmmakers and those who shape policy in this field," said Rajiv Mehrotra, managing trustee of PSBT.

The festival will screen films from several countries, including Britain, Japan, Sweden, Netherlands, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Cuba. More than 12 Indian documentaries will also be screened at the event.

One of the highpoints of the festival will be workshops from renowned documentary directors Philip Cox and Andy Glynne.

There will also be specific training workshops for media teachers.

Prominent film personalities to participate at the festival include Shyam Benegal and Adoor Gopalakrishnan.
