“Builders will submit masterplans for each sector they are interested in,” said the Chief Executive Officer (DDA) Gautam Chatterjee.

The plans will have minute details of the new utilities to be laid while making a brand new infrastructure layout for Dharavi, Chatterjee added. According to the redevelopment plan, Dharavi will be divided into five sectors for development. “There will be seamless integration of all the sectors. We will have elevated walkways crisscrossing Dharavi as well.”

Slumdwellers will be relocated and developers allowed to construct commercial properties. “We will give ID cards to 55,000 families to make them eligible for new homes,” said Chatterjee.
