FIR lodged against engineers
An FIR has been lodged against the Executive engineer and three others of rural works department for siphoning off Rs 8.5 lakh for clearing the bills of a contractor for repairs of roads damaged by Lakhandai river duing last year's floods in Sitamarhi district, police sources said Thursday.

The FIR against the Executive engineer, Ram Lal Ram, Assistant engineer Balbhdra Shahi and Junior engineer Brind Kumar Lal was for clearing the bills of a contractor worth Rs 8.5 lakh when the contractor had not done any work and had submitted fake bills to the department which was cleared without ascertaining the facts, the sources said.
The FIR had been lodged against the engineers on the orders of the District Magistrate Vimlanand Jha.
The sources said that District Development Commissioner (DDC) had made an inquiry into the allegations and had recommended registering of an FIR against these officials for misappropriating government funds.
