Though the exact cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately, preliminary investigations suggested that the mishap possibly occurred due to short-circuit in the unit's main production hall around 10am.

The fire reduced furniture, electronic goods, raw and eight quintals of finished materials, machinery and related items into ashes by the time fire tenders from various destinations succeeded in controlling the blaze.

The fire caused heavy economic losses to the management of the factory. The unit is engaged in manufacturing of deodorants and related chemical material.

Baddi fire officer Sukhdev Singh started the extinguishing operations and controlled the blaze after two hours. Initial loss has been assessed at Rs 40 lakh. The police is investigating the case.
