Five pilgrims killed in Bihar bus accident

At least five pilgrims, including two women, were killed and 40 others injured when the bus in which they were travelling in overturned in Bihar's Samastipur district.

At least five pilgrims, including two women, were killed and 40 others injured when the bus in which they were travelling in overturned on National Highway 2 in Bihar's Samastipur district, police said on Wednesday.

The bus with about 60 pilgrims on the way to Deoghar in Jharkhand from Mahant-Maniari village in Muzaffarpur district veered off the road and plunged into a roadside ditch near Tajpur last midnight, Samastipur Superintendent of Police S L Das told PTI.

He said around ten seriously injured passengers were being treated at the Sadar hospital here, while the rest were admitted to the Referral Hospital at Tajpur.
