Five police commandos suspended from service in Manipur

Five police commandos have been placed under suspension for allegedly extorting money and forcibly taking away mobile phones from “innocent” persons in Manipur, official sources said on Wednesday.

Five police commandos have been placed under suspension for allegedly extorting money and forcibly taking away mobile phones from “innocent” persons in Manipur, official sources said on Wednesday.

The commandos had forcibly taken away money and mobile phones from two civilians who were identified as the younger brothers of two police officers at Khuman Lampak area near here in Imphal West district on Monday.

Their relatives had lodged a complaint with the Imphal West police station following which they were suspended on Tuesday, the sources said.
