Five polling officials held on charges of false voting in WB

One presiding officer and four other polling officials have been arrested on the charge of allowing false voting at a booth under Asansol LS constituency.

One presiding officer and four other polling officials have been arrested on the charge of allowing false voting at a booth in Churulia under Asansol Lok Sabha constituency of West Bengal.

District Magistrate cum Returning Officer Subrata Gupta said the polling personnel were caught red-handed by Election Commission Observer Sonnabala Rawal during polling on Monday.

Later she lodged an FIR against them with the Asansol South police station.

The erring poll personnel were arrested when they come to the counting centre at Asansol to submit the EVM on Monday night, Gupta said.
