They staged a dharna at the administrative block of the university and threatened to go on indefinite strike if their long pending demands were not fulfilled before Diwali. They accused the finance officer (FO) of adopting delaying tactics and the harassing employees. Presiding over dharna, president of employees’ union Dr VN Singh said that FO was delaying implementation of the agreement between the employees union and the vice-chancellor. They also shouted slogans against the FO and threatened to intensify their agitation.

Responding to a question, the secretary of the association Brijbhushan Mishra said 11-point charter of demand was handed over to the V-C and FO for considering the demands.

He demanded immediate payment of medical allowances for July 2006 to the employees and to regularise the services of daily wages and stipend employees.

Mishra said the sense of insecurity is prevailing among the employees due to incident of scuffle with student leaders.

He demanded the administration to ensure the security of the employees. He said the minimum limit for payment to the stipend teachers should be revised.

Criticising the authorities for increasing 25 per cent seat in science group, Mishra said with the announcement of chief minister, 25 per cent seats were increased in all the disciplines. However, the V-C increased another 25 per cent seat in science group, therefore, 50 per cent increase in the seat has also added additional work pressure on employees.

Mishra demanded to appoint new employees to cope up with increasing work pressure.

He demanded suspension of FO and said the admission of dependents of the employees should be ensured under self-financed courses.
