Members of an upper caste had allegedly torched a temporary police security shed located on a disputed Ravidas temple site. Though no one sustained injury in the incident, the alleged action escalated tension in the village.

“Peace prevails in the village. Members of the Dalit and Brahmin communities have been roped in to ensure order,” Ghraunda police SHO Vijay Malik said.

Meanwhile, the authorities have deployed additional police force to avoid any untoward incident.

Dalits had named five people in a first-information report (FIR), including the name of woman sarpanch's son who is from the upper caste.

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Joginder Rathee had recommended suspension of two policemen of Ghraunda police station for being absent from duty at the village.

On Saturday, Rathee had recommended departmental action against the erring policemen. The SHO, however, said no order had been issued about any action against the policemen. He said no one was arrested in the case.
