"A low pressure has formed over the Andhra coast and it is expected to move towards the Orissa coastal area in the next 24 hours," Regional Meteorological Centre director G C Debnath said on Wednesday.

Under its influence, all south Bengal districts in the gangetic belt were likely to experience heavy rain in the next 48 hours, he said.

Meanwhile, the metropolis and its neigbourhood experienced gusty winds and intermittent showers on Wednesday.

With the Durga puja a week away, the unseasonal rain has caused worry among puja organisers.
