Former Congress MP and veteran journalist, Anantrao Patil, 87, died on Wednesday due to old age.

Former Congress MP and veteran journalist, Anantrao Patil on Wednesday died here due to old age. He was 87.

Patil, a freedom fighter, was a Member of Parliament from 1967 to 1977.

Patil, who was a close associate of Congress stalwart late Y B Chavan, started a Marathi newspaper 'Vishal Sahyadri' in 1958 and was its editor for 25 years.

Before launching his own paper, he also worked in 'Sakal' and authored several books.
