Former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ramrao Adik passes away at a city hospital in Mumbai, following a brief illness.

Former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ramrao Adik passed away, at a city hospital in Mumbai on Thursday, following a brief illness. He was 78.

He is survived by wife, a daughter and two sons. Adik was admitted to Lilawati hospital in sub-urban Bandra last week following pneumonia.

Adik was deputy CM of Maharashtra during 1983-85 in the Vasantadada Patil-led government.

His body has been taken to his residence and the cremation is scheduled at the Shivaji park crematorium later in the day, family sources said.

Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh has condoled Adik's demise calling him an able administrator and legal luminary.
