Fresh snow in high peaks of Himachal

Fresh snowfall in the high peaks of Rohtang Pass in Lahaul & Spiti and Kinner-Kailash peaks in Kinnaur district along with widespread rains in the lower areas of Himachal Pradesh considerably dropped temperature in the hill state.

Fresh snowfall in the high peaks of Rohtang Pass in Lahaul & Spiti and Kinner-Kailash peaks in Kinnaur district along with widespread rains in the lower areas of Himachal Pradesh considerably dropped temperature in the hill state on Wednesday.

The areas on the higher reaches have been witnessing snowfall while rainfall lashed Shimla and other lower areas since last night.

The queen of hills recorded 48 mm rains, the Met officials said.

In other parts of the state, Sundernagar registered 42 mm rain while it was 10.8 mm in Kalpa, Dharamsala (8.6 mm) and Una (19.4 mm), they said.

Day temperature in Shimla plummeted to 16.8 degree Celsius in comparison to 20 deg C on Tuesday, they said.

Elsewhere, Sundernagar recorded day temperature of 20.4 deg C while it was 19.8 deg C in Bhuntar, Dharamsala (25.2 deg C) and Kalpa (11.8 deg C), they added. The Met office forecast rainfall at most places of the state on Thursday.
