Fresh spell of snowfall on higher reaches of Lahaul Spiti, Kinnuar, Kullu, Kangra and Chamba distirct followed by rainfall in the down streams for the second day today making the weather pleasant.
Report received from Lahaul Spiti district said higher reaches experienced 5 to 6 cm snowfall on 13,050 feet high Rohtang Pass.
Vehicular traffic was disrupted between Keylong and Leh following fresh snow and landslides at several places. Minimum temperature also plunged in Keylong after snowfall on the higher reaches.
The sky was partly cloudy and state had rain or snow in last 24 hours. Higher reaches of Kinnuar, Kullu, Chamba and Kangra also received light to moderate snowfall.
People were attracted towards major tourist destinations from plains to take respite from sweltering heat wave as Mall road and Ridge in Shimla and Manali witnessed footfall of tourists who were seen enjoying unique weather of these hill stations.
During last 24 hours, most of stations recorded rainfall pushing down mercury substantially. Maximum temperature was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius, registering a sharp decline from 30.8 degrees during past 24 hours.
The Met office has forecast mainly dry weather in next 24 hours.
