With rising prices of aviation turbine fuel (ATF), national flag carrier, Indian, on Wednesday introduced a fuel surcharge of Rs 300 for travel on domestic sectors.

The surcharge will be applicable on all tickets issued from Thursday against Indian rupees and US dollars tariff for travel on domestic sectors.

It will be applicable on all types of journeys in both executive and economy class, and will be applicable on all passenger types including infants.

However, frequent flier programme award tickets will be exempted from the surcharge, the airline said in a statement.

Most domestic and international airlines have either introduced or raised fuel surcharge as global crude oil prices hovered around $75 per barrel.
