Addressing a meeting in connection with Ardha Kumbh preparations at the commissioner’s office Ganga Sabhagar here on Tuesday, the minister directed the officials of concerned departments to complete the work on time while ensuring quality.
He will review the progress after 15 days at a meeting in Allahabad.
Reviewing the progress of Power department, the minister was told that total 65 high masts were being installed in the city. Out of this, 30 would be temporary and the rest 35 would be on permanent basis.
He took strong exception to the name of a company and ordered to use Philps and Havells equipment. District magistrate and NN administrator Amrit Abhijat told the minister that the NN had already fixed 20 high masts and it would install 15 more in the city. Besides, three high masts would be installed by the Allahabad Development Authority and 20 by DUDA.
However, following complaints of poor quality of transformers and other materials used by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation, the minister ordered the NTPC to conduct an inquiry into the matter.
The minister asked the PWD not to transfer the pontoon bridge material to any other department.
The meeting was attended by principal secretary Amal Kumar Verma, commissioner R N Tripathi, ADA vice-president Himanshu Kumar, mela adhikari Pragyan Ram Mishra and district magistrate Amrit Abhijat.
