GEN-Y today just don’t need any reason for partying. While the whole attention was at the India Gate, where one saw the military might of the nation, far from the action at 32nd Milestone in Gurgaon it was a celebration of a different kind.

If the jawans marched at the India Gate, it was the civilians who converged at 32nd Milestone to celebrate the nation’s big day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.

The day flagged off to a start with the unfurling of the Tri-colour and rendition of the National Anthem. A perfect foil for spending some time partying and relaxing. The celebrations at 32nd Milestone could lure anyone with its unique Khana Khazana concept and live performances by the colourfully attired folk dancers.

“Republic Day is one of the most important days for Indians and we decided to mark it in a traditional manner,” says Kulmohan Singh, dirctor sales and marketing. Decorated with tri-coloured kites, smartly dressed caterers moving around serving snacks and flags fluttering on an unsually balmy day, the whole place had a festive look to it.

The unique thing about this celebration was that it allowed visitors an opportunity to express their sentiments in their own unique way, which many did by writing a message on the billboard.

Photographs and giant posters of heritage monuments, culture and folk dances of India were on display, which set the patriotic tone and tenor for the day’s celebration.
