The "affordable art" presented by dhoomimal.com has a range of paintings by 17 artists who have agreed to slash prices of their creations to reach out to more and more art lovers.

"Somewhere as an artist I felt that we are not connected to all art lovers. So in order to get in touch with them, we decided to cut down the price," said Susmita Chobey, one of the painters. The week-long exhibition, which opened at the Epicentre, Apparel House on November 27, has paintings with prices starting from Rs 15,000.

The art pieces are based on various themes ranging from nature to human emotions expressed in four mediums -- painting, drawing, original graphic print on canvass and photography. Artists have used oil painting, water colour and acrylic to express themselves.

"We intend to showcase quality artwork by young upcoming artists at affordable prices which have been carefully chosen after a research of nearly one year," said Prayag Shukla, curator of the exhibition.

According to Karan Khanna, a photographer, the exhibition is an effort to reach out to people who are interested in art. "This city is becoming a hub of young people who are interested in art," Khanna said.
