The drive is aimed at controlling illegal and commercial activities in residential colonies which have been developed by the GDA. Over 900 residential buildings in Kaushambi, Indrapuram, Vaishali, Chander Nagar, Surya Nagar, Brij Vihar and Ramprastha will be targeted.

"Most of these residential areas have been developed by private builders. While the GDA had approved plans for six units of building, the builders have constructed 24 units. Besides they have constructed shops on land, which had been earmarked for parking space," said a senior GDA official.

“The GDA will start sealing only after serving notices to the owners. The drive will be started from Kaushambi and notices in this connection have been sent to the involved parties. The sealing will be started only when sufficient police force is available to the authority,” said RC Mishra, Secretary, GDA.
