The dead have been identified as Prashant Swamy (29) and his wife, Jyoti (23), residents of Rajinder Nagar, Ghaziabad, in Uttar Pradesh.

The two were found dead in a room at Hotel Green Park, Gulmarg. Rafiq Ahmed, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Tangmarg, said preliminary investigations point towards death by asphyxiation due to an LPG gas heater.

“The deaths seem to have taken place due to suffocation,” said Ahmad.
The police, however, said it has conducted a post-mortem of the dead couple at the sub-district hospital, Tangmarg.

“We are waiting for the final report,” Ahmed said, adding that a case had been registered in Gulmarg police station.
