Girl injured in leopard attack

An eleven-year-old girl was injured in a leopard attack in Nashik in Ighatpuri tehsil when she accompanied her parents to the nearby forest area to collect firewood.

According to sources, Rajubai Wagh from Ninavi village was attacked when she was resting under a tree near Mukane Dam. Her father Balu and wife were away collecting wood.

On hearing her cries for help, the parents immediately rushed to the spot and drove away the leopard, they said.

The girl was admitted to the primary health centre at Badivarhe with minor injuries, sources said adding there have been similar attacks on animal livestock in the village and nearby areas.

Meanwhile, the forest department has laid a trap near the remand factory here to catch the leopards straying into the village area.
