“Taliban has been responsible for much mayhem and bloodshed in our extended neighbourhood, particularly in Afghanistan and beyond that. It is a trans-national problem which requires a coherent global response,” Minister of State for Externalo Affairs Anand Sharma told mediapersons in Hyderabad.
Replying to a query, he said India cannot have any direct involvement in Sri Lanka and favours a “negotiated settlement through a devolution which meets the legitimate aspirations of Sri Lankan Tamils”.
“We cannot be interventionist. We can only give our counsel,” he said.
