First Indian driver to win a Asia-Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) leg, Gaurav Gill is aiming to fetch laurels for the country in more demanding World Rally Championships (WRC) later this year.
"I have won the Indonesia stage of the APRC event and now am looking forward to do well in the World Rally Championship as well, which is starting next month. I am very much hopeful about top-5 finish after the season.
"I know this championship is much more demanding -- both physically and mentally. I am training hard and want to give my best to make the country proud," Gill, who will be Team Sidvin India's lead driver in the six-stage event, said.
Gaurav, who has been roped up by the TSI, first Indian team in the WRC, exudes high confidence about making an impact in the prestigious event of motorsport, starting in Cyprus, followed by the Portugal leg in April.
"Today I am physically in my best condition and preparing hard for the event. Most importantly I want to finish all the stages in which I will participate during the year as it boost the confidence and better the standing of your team," Gill said.
However, Gill admits that the journey forward is not going to be a mare cake-walk for him due to plenty of important but unpredictable factors, which often catch one at the bay.
