Governor TV Rajeswar has accepted the resignation of minister Babu Lal, reports Umesh Raghuvanshi.
The Governor TV Rajeswar has accepted resignation of Minister of State for Food Processing Babu Lal who had quit following allegations that he shared a close relationship with the Chaudhary Charan Singh Meerut University adhoc lecturer Kavita Rani who has been murdered recently.
The Rashtriya Lok Dal Spokesman Anil Dubey went to Chief Minister’s office this afternoon to hand over the minister’s resignation personally to Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The RLD had earlier sent the resignation through a courier service. The chief Minister’s office however did not receive the resignation till Thursday afternoon. So, soon after he received the resignation the Chief Minister decided to forward the same to Governor for acceptance.
Significantly Babu Lal is the second RLD leader whose name has figured in the controversy following the murder of Kavita Rani. Another RLD leader the former minister Merajuddin had earlier tendered his resignation from party following similar allegations leveled against him.
Babu Lal and Merajuddin however have denied the charges leveled against them and said they were resigning on moral grounds.
