Govt official's son goes missing in Patna

Police said 15-year-old Naseem Akhtar was suspected to have been kidnapped.

The son of a Government official has gone missing from the state capital and is suspected to have been kidnapped, police said on Friday.

Naseem Akhtar, 15-year-old son of the sub-divisional officer posted at Darbhanga Naeem Akhtar, left his home in Pataliputra Colony around 7.30 pm on Thursday to buy a pen but did not return.

His family members, who began a frantic search for Naseem, a class VIII student of Don Bosco academy, reported the matter late on Thursday night to the police, who have registered an FIR.

The boy was said to be good natured and did not keep bad company leading to suspicions that he might have been kidnapped, the police said.

Businessman abducted

Armed men also abducted a businessman Prashant Jain from near his Buddha Marg residence late on Thursday night.

Eyewitnesses said unidentified people bundled at gun point the businessman, Prashant Jain who had arrived on his scooter, into a waiting white car and sped away at around 10.30 pm.

Police have reached the spot and efforts have begun to apprehend the abductors of Kumar who owns a garment shop near the Patna railway station, sources added.
