Electing to bat, Dr DY Patil Sports Academy managed to score 155/8 in 20 overs. Shoaib Shaikh struck 59 runs off 32 balls with four boundaries and two sixes. Iqbal Abdullah (26 — 20 balls, 3 x 4) was the major contributor.

In response, Greater Mumbai Police Club chased the target off 19.2 overs with Shahid Shaikh blasting an unbeaten 80.

Shahid Shaikh was caught at short extra cover in the 10th over when he was in his twenties and was given out by the on-field umpire. However, in a rare sporting gesture, Pravin Tambe, the skipper of Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, indicated that the ball had bounced before he caught it and asked Shoaib Shaikh to stay put.

Brief scores: Dr DY Patil Sports Academy 155/8 in 20 overs (Shoaib Shaikh 59, Iqbal Abdullah 26; Aquib Shaikh 3/29, Narendra Ambavkar 2/15) lost to Greater Mumbai Police Club 158/5 in 19.2 overs (Shrikant Nimbole 28, Shahid Shaikh 80*).
