At a time when electioneering for the civic poll has picked up momentum, those in the fray for corporator's post are drawing no less attention than the mayoral candidates.

The only difference is that unlike the mayoral candidates the area of operation of the corporator is limited to a ward.
Unlike dozens of their counterparts there's a group of 'top eleven' amongst the corporators who have hoisted their flag in their respective wards by winning one election after the other in a row. And in the present poll too they are expecting to maintain the lead over their rivals.
However, only the election result would show whether their decision to contest the poll for the third or fourth consecutive time in a row was right or wrong. For the time being they are there with the same gung-ho attitude. But they had been working hard for the people of the area. Whether or not their efforts succeeded they have been on their job with the same gusto. And that is probably why people of the area had been rallying behind them and supporting them whenever they sought their votes.
Raju Shukla from Salori may have given up the seat in favour of his wife after the area was reserved for women but he had been on a winning spree on earlier two occasions. He had won the last election by a margin of around 2300 votes.
It is difficult for any other person to make a dent in his bastion.
The same goes with Ratan Dixit who has twice won from Mumfordganj area with comfortable margin. His mother won once. She is again contesting this time.
Mohd Sabir from Gadhi Sarai has won on earlier two occasions with a good margin over his nearest rivals securing a lead of around 750 votes in the last election. He too is contesting again.
Amit Singh from Civil Lines won the last election with a lead of around 650 votes. This time he is keen on the victory of his relative Chandra Bhan Singh alias Guddu Chauhan who had been corporator earlier from the same place. Both of them had been contesting independently without any support from a political outfit.
Then we have another hardworking corporator from Allahpur, Shiv Sewak Singh who has already won twice and is contesting as an independent for the third time. He had won the last election by a margin of over 1,000 votes.
Kamlesh Singh, another hard working corporator, who even rides a bicycle may have contested once in 2000 and won but he is credited with the declaration of the city as metropolitan town. He is in the fray for the second time. He had worked tirelessly for the second water works scheme the foundation stone of which was laid recently by Urban Development Minister Azam Khan. He also managed to get Rs 24.47 crore for the sewage treatment plat near Buxi bund.
Anees Ahmad from Darashah Ajmal has won on three occasions. Last time he won by a margin of over 1,000 votes. This time he has decided to send his wife to the electorate.
Aquilur Rehman had won earlier from Kydganj. In the last Civic elections his wife contested and won. This time he is again in the fray and hopes to romp home with a good margin again.
Sushil Yadav from Malviya Nagar had won twice. He is contesting the election for the third time with the backing of Samajwadi Party. His rivals find in him a hard nut to crack.
Then we have another strong man from Bakhtiyari Katra Nisar Ahmad who has won on earlier three occasions and is there in the field for the fourth time in high spirits.
