"I cannot see any political reasons that could have made them take this decision. I do not know what the PCNB chairman Shahryar Khan means by this statment at all," government spokesperson I K Jadeja said.

Jadeja said he would have to know in detail about the PCB chairman's comments before reacting more.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Congress said that though the logic behind such a statment was unkown, it would continue to support Ahmedabad as a Test or one-day match venue.

"I dont know the logic behind such a statment but I can say that the Pakistan governemnt is akin to the Narendra Modi government here", leader of opposition in Gujarat assembly Arjun Modhvadia said.

Terming the post-Godhra riots which was considered one of the reasons behind the PCB's apprehensions as "politically motivated", Modhvadia said there should not be any law and order concerns as Gujarat had proven its hospitality by hosting various national and international events under completely amicable environment.
