Mohamed Ahsanuddin Qureshi, 42, claimed that the firm employed him as an assistant travel and tourism manager, and was promised QR 6,000 (over Rs 76,000) as monthly salary.
He said he was told that the company would either provide him accommodation or housing allowance. "However, after I joined the company in March 2005, I was given only QR 4,000 (over Rs 51,000) as salary and neither accommodation nor allowance was given," he said.
Sixteen months had passed and when the company showed no inclination to increase his salary and provide him accommodation or a housing allowance, he decided to approach the Department of Labour for help.
