Hadauti region in grip of flood, relief on at Barmer
Following torrential rains rivers in Jhalawr and Baran were overflowing and flood waters entered 20 villages.
A flood-like situation has arisen following heavy rains, breaking the record of 20 years in Hadauti region of Kota, Jhalawar and Baran districts while the low lying areas of Kota are inundated due to release of water from Kota barrage in Rajasthan.
Following torrential rains rivers in Jhalawr and Baran were overflowing and flood waters have entered 20 villages, according to official sources in Jaipur on Saturday.
Sources said the district adminsitration with the assistance of the Army has shifted nearly 300 affected people of both districts to safer places while food packets were being dropped by a helicopter.
In Baran, 10 villages were affected while the district administrtion was busy in relief and rescue operations and in Kota, the lowlying areas were submerged in water following release of water from Kota barrage, sources said.
According to police sources, three persons were swept away in the flash flood in Baran district.
According to Divisional Commisioner JC Mohanti RAC personnel and 117 engineers of the Army have been pressed into rescue and relief operations.
Meanwhile, control rooms have been set up at Jaipur and other divisional headquarters to collect relief materials for the flood affected people of the state.
