Hooda announced that his cabinet has accepted the recommendations of a sub-committee, headed by finance minister HS Chattha, on the issue of reservation for economically backward persons in the general category.

Addressing the media, Hooda said the reservation for this category will be vertical and not horizontal. He said the reservation will help in the economic upliftment of people from the general category.

Under the laid down criteria, a family with an annual combined income of Rs. 2.50 lakh from all sources would qualify to be listed as economically backward persons in the general category.
