HC seeks ATR on illegal construction in Lutyen's zone

The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed the CPWD department to file an action taken report (ATR) with regard to illegal construction at some bunglows in the Lutyen's zone of the capital.
A Division Bench of Chief Justice MK Sharma and Justice Hema Kohli directed the CPWD to file its report by February 14 with details including the action taken by it against those who have not removed illegal construction at bunglows despite court order.
Amicus Curae Rekha Palli informed the court that a survey was conducted and it was found that out of 218 bunglows in the zone, illegal construction has been done at 90 of them.
After the court order, eight of 90 have removed illegal constrcution but CPWD have not been taking any action against rest of them, she said.
In 2004, the court had taken a suo motu cognizance on a media report that illegal construction at some of the bunglows have come up violating building bylaws.
