THE VACATION Bench of the High Court here has stayed the suspension of a divisional forest officer (DFO), one Janmejaya Singh till further orders.
According to the petitioner within 10 days of his joining as DFO Renukoot he had detected an illegal mining operation in which a minister was allegedly involved.
The Lok Ayukt after enquiry into the matter had directed the State for taking action against those involved in the illegal mining.
Instead of taking any action against the persons, the petitioner himself was suspended on May 26 on charges of being involved in the matter, it was said.
While staying the suspension order, the Bench comprising Justices D P Singh and J M Paliwal observed that it could not be presumed that the illegal mining was being done with the active connivance of the petitioner.
Babloo aides jailed
WHILE REJECTING the bail applications, ACJM-I Lucknow, Anupatiram Yadav sent aides of mafia don Babloo Srivastav, Abdul Byan, Mohammad Shahid, Mohammad Sami, Shamim and Nasir to jail. All were accused for intimidating a trader. Earlier on Wednesday, the Chowk police, acting on a complaint made by one Chandra Krishna Rastogi, arrested all the accused. The complainant, alleged that the accused were forcing him to sell a plot for a song.
The court took the accused in judicial custody and sent them to jail till July 5.
THE EDITOR of a local newspaper, one Jitendra Soni has been issued contempt notice for publishing an objectionable news item. The High Court has fixed August 24 for hearing the matter. The Bench has called upon the contemner to show cause why he may not be punished.
