THE CITY police recovered heroin worth Rs 1.2 crore and arrested five drug-peddlers at Ashapur in the Sarnath area.
Superintendent of Police (City) Anant Deo told newspersons that Ramji, resident of Ghazipur, and Ram Gopal Agrawal, Sanjay Kumar, Anirudh Singh and Guddu (all locals) were arrested.
They used to get heroin from a man at the Mughalsarai railway station and sell it in various districts of Purvanchal for a commission. Following a tip-off, the Sarnath police arrested the drug-peddlers who revealed details of the narcotics network in Purvanchal. Raids were being conducted to nab the mastermind, the police said.
