High alert sounded in Naxal-hit areas
A HIGH alert has been sounded by the administration in Naxalite-affected districts of Purvanchal, Chandauli, Sonebhadra and Mirzapur following the Naxalite strike at Nadaul railway station on Mughalsarai-Gaya rail sector in Bihar on Sunday night.

A massive security check is being carried out by the cops on the border of Chhatisgarh, Bihar and Jharkhand in Sonebhadra district.
Security personnel of the railways also rushed to the spot from Mughalsarai by a special train on the request of DIG railways in Gaya. The security personnel had driven away the Naxals, who had held the station master and a porter hostage for a short while.
Soon after the news of the Naxalite’s strike at Nadaul railway station, senior police officials got worried over the growing naxalite menace in neighbouring states and enhanced the patrolling on the border of east UP connected to Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhatisgarh.
Special attention is being paid by the security personnel of the railway stations in remote areas of Chandauli, Sonebhadra and Mirzapur. Patrolling has also been intensified in the forests of the affected districts.
It may be noted that after the hijacking of a train by a gang of armed Naxals in Jharkhand last month, the district police chiefs of Naxalite-affected areas in Purvanchal had held a meeting with the railway and intelligence officials here on March 27 to chalk out a secret strategy to face such unexpected situations in Purvanchal.
SP, Chandauli, RK Chaturvedi said the situation of railway tracks and stations in Chandauli was not similar to Gaya railway sector in Bihar.
The most sensitive Naxalite-affected area of Naugarh in Chandauli, does not have any railway track. Even, then, he said, an alert was sounded in the Naxalite-affected areas in the district on Sunday night soon after the incident at Nadaul station in Bihar.
