Mayor Vimal Yadav along with senior deputy mayor Yashpal Batra and deputy mayor Parminder Kataria inaugurated the machine at New Colony on Thursday.
"We want to provide better service to the residents. We are taking measures to ensure better civic amenities and committed towards the cleanliness of the city,” Yadav said, while addressing the gathering.
The corporation has purchased the machine, having a capacity of 5,000 litres at a cost of Rs 75 lakh.
"We will purchase more such machines as the problem of choked sewers are common here,” said Batra.
The MCG is divided into four zones and at least four machines are required as sewer pipes overflow in many areas. "We are happy to see this machine in the city, it is being used in Delhi
too," said Harjinder Singh, a resident of New Colony, adding that the residents of the area had earlier sent a representation to Yadav in this regard.
