Hope for prisoners in India, Pak

The BSF and Pakistan Rangers have exchanged a list of prisoners languishing in the jails of the two countries for a long time for their early repatriation, reports HT Correspondent.

The Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers have exchanged a list of prisoners languishing in the jails of the two countries for a long time in a step towards their early repatriation.

Stating this here on Saturday at the end of a three-day meeting between the two forces, the head of the Indian delegation, Additional Director General (West), G.S. Gill, said the BSF and Pakistan Rangers do not have any role in the matter other than that of mediation. He added the agencies involved in resolving the issue were beyond the purview of the border guarding forces.

Speaking at a press conference, Major General Muhammed Haroon Aslam, Director General, Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) said an
effort has been made to expedite repatriation of inadvertent border crossers to minimse the miseries of the families.
