House of Commons "salutes" Varanasi

An Early Day Motion was tabled by Stephen Pound, a senior Labour MP and chairman, Labour Friends of India, says Vijay Dutt.

The bomb blasts in Varanasi have shocked most in Britain. It has reminded people of the July 7 carnage in London in which 52 people died. A family member of a victim's family said, "They (terrorists have no religion and know no boundary. My thoughts go to the victims and their families."

An Early Day Motion (EDM) was also tabled in the House of Commons by Stephen Pound, a senior Labour MP and Chairman of the Labour Friends of India. "That this House offers its deepest sympathy and sincere condolence to the 80 victims, and their families and friends, of the unprovoked terrorist attack on the religious capital of Hinduism, the Holy City of Varanasi on March 7; condemns the action of the cross-border terrorist group Lashkar-e-Qahab, who have claimed responsibility; and salutes the government of India for its dignified and principled response to the Varanasi outrage."

Many MPs have signed the EDM.
