Additional Sessions Judge Indermeet Kaur Kochhar remanded the former Registrar of Co-operative Societies (RCS) to CBI custody till February 16, accepting the prosecution's argument that the interrogation of the accused was "absolutely essential to unearth the entire conspiracy".
The court observed that co-accused Shri Chand and Anna Wankhede, who are already in judicial custody, had made disclosures during their interrogation, which had to be confronted by the former RCS.
However, arguing for Diwakar, counsel BS Rana pointed out that the prosecution's case rested solely on documentary evidence, all of which had been recovered, and they had failed to show sufficient ground to claim his police remand.
