HP guv inaugurates Kangra Painting Exhibition

Himachal Pradesh governor Urmila Singh has inaugurated the two-day-long Kangra painting exhibition, jointly put up by Kangra Art Promotion Society and Department of Art, Language and Culture here.

Himachal Pradesh governor Urmila Singh has inaugurated the two-day-long Kangra painting exhibition, jointly put up by Kangra Art Promotion Society and Department of Art, Language and Culture here.

Inaugurating the exhibition yesterday, the Governor lauded efforts of the organisers and said that efforts should be made to preserve and promote the unique Kangra School of Painting.

She congratulated all the artists, who contributed for putting up the exhibition and evinced keen interest in the paintings.

She was accompanied by urban development minister Sudhir Sharma, chief secretary S Roy, art, language and culture principal secretary Manisha Nanda, GAD secretary Bharat Khera, officers of district administration and prominent people of the area.

Later, she also visited Bhagsu Nag, Brijeshwari Devi and Chamunda Devi temples and offered prayers.
