The IED, planted on the main road, was detected by police during area domination patrol at Damhal Hanjipora village, 75 km from Srinagar, the sources said.

They said the bomb disposal squad was immediately summoned and the IED was defused well in time, frustrating militants' plan to set off an explosion.

A hunt has been launched to nab the militants who had laid the IED on the road in an apparent attempt to target the
security forces, the sources said.
