The village visit programme is intended at generating awareness, capacity building of the farmers and help students document case studies, generate data and do ground level research. Chairman of Agriculture Management Center (AMC) of IIM-L Prof Sushil Kumar said that the entire exercise was divided into two parts—village study and thematic study. In the first, students would be required to study the whole village through participatory research techniques and in the second they would undertake pre-designed study on agri-business related issues.
Prof Kumar said that all students left for the villages assigned to them on Wednesday. They would be visiting several villages in Allahabad, Rae Bareli and Sitapur. To facilitate this field visit by the IIM-L students, several organisations like Agriculture Insurance Corporation of India, GB Pant Social Science Institute, Allahabad, Usar Bhumi Sudhar Nigam, Lucknow, Gram Vikas Sansthan, Rae Bareli and Nari Jagran Sewa Samiti, Lucknow are helping them.
