Illegal arms trader trapped

MALHARGANJ POLICE have arrested a man who was involved in making and supplying illegal weapons and seized two pistols with five rounds, two revolvers with six rounds and five (315 bore) guns from him.

The accused, Pratap Sikligar, a resident of Lalbagh (Dhamnod), came to sell his illegal weapons in Indore, after making contact with prospective customers over phone.

Laying a trap, a police team posing as prospective customers started negotiating with Pratap regarding purchasing of some weapons. Pratap fell into the trap and the deal was negotiated to hand over the guns at Jinsi Haat Maidan. The police team was present when Pratap reached the spot and nabbed him.

Additional SP (west) Dharmendra Chaudhary said that they were questioning the accused and wanted to find out about various persons to whom he had supplied illegal guns on earlier occasions.

In another incident, Sadar Bazaar police arrested a chain snatcher and recovered a pair of gold tops and a chain from his possession. The accused has been identified as Zakir alias Ashik son of Abdul Karim, resident of Gandhi Nagar, at present staying at Gafoor Khan Ki Bajaria.

During questioning the accused said that he had snatched the pair of tops on May 2 from near Rambagh petrol pump. A case in this regard had been registered by Nisha wife of Rajesh Yadav resident of Ahir Mohalla, Neemuch, at present residing at 48, Imli Bazaar. On September 9, he had snatched a chain from near Marimata crossing. The victim, Leelabai wife of Nathulal Lashkari resident of Aerodrome area, had lodged a report with the police.
