Singh, Sonia and other Union ministers had visited Imphal on December 3.

“The blast at Hatta Kangjeibung (in Imphal) was triggered by our armed wing under the command of chief Langoi,” the outfit’s publicity secretary Tiken said in a statement issued Monday evening. He clarified that Mohammed Kora, the rickshaw puller who died in the blast, was unaware of the bomb wrapped in a bag in his rickshaw.

The outfit claimed that the cadre who hired the rickshaw was supposed to plant the bomb at Hatta Kangjeibung where Singh and Gandhi were scheduled to visit but changed plan after receiving information of heavy security presence at the venue. The cadre subsequently told the rickshaw puller to go ahead and wait for him near the venue. But the bomb went off accidentally before it could be planted.
